Participants will have the opportunity to create a small-format sculpture, carving the concrete as it sets. Concrete is a generous material for sculptural work. During its drying process, it can be easily carved, allowing forms and textures to emerge. A mixture of cement and marble dust will be prepared and poured into pre-made cardboard molds. While the mixture reaches the right consistency, we’ll discuss the material and the carving process.

Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de crear una obra de escultura en pequeño formato, tallando el concreto mientras está fraguando. El concreto es un material generoso para la labor escultórica. Durante su proceso de secado, se puede tallar con facilidad permitiendo el surgir de formas y texturas. Se hará una mezcla de cemento y marmolina que se vertirá en moldes de cartón previamente preparados. Mientras la mezcla adquiere la consistencia precisa, conversaremos sobre el material y el proceso de talla.
About the Artist: Diana Dávila (Santurce, 1962) is a Puerto Rican artist and member of the International Academy of Ceramics. Her practice spans ceramics, concrete, and sculpture, with exhibitions in Puerto Rico, Spain, and the U.S., and works in major museum collections. She is currently Artist-in-Residence at Proyecto de Residencias de Arte, Bayamón (2023–2026).
